Twice in one day, whatever next?!

Been overdoing things in the garden again today. After all that hacking about and starting on the rockery the other day I gave it another go. I totally got shot of the rockery and have started dismantling the wall that held it all up too! Boy do I have a backache. . .! Here's a shot from one side:

And the other side. Where the spade is the rockery used to be. You can still see the shadow of it on the wall behind. Had to dig and hack out all of that down to below where the wall is, as I put loads of rubble in there for drainage. Wish I hadn't bothered with it now, but hey, that's the thing with gardening. Some things work and some don't!

Sorry about that bitty song burst there, but that's what pops into my wee brain when I see this title!

It's Monday again, and time for a new theme at
Macabre Monday by Haunted Design House.
I used to blog these challenges on a 'Dark Side' blog, but have decided to dispose of that and have them all on here instead. Hope I don't scare you too much with them! LOL

So, our new theme this week is:

'Shot Through the Heart'

Requirements are to use at least ONE heart and have TWO holes. I used my newest image that was released into the Delicious Doodles Shop on Saturday,

'Emo Valentine Fairy':

I kept it nice and simple this week, basically through time restraints (too much to do in the garden!) I followed the sketch at Less is More, so hoping this fits in there with the rules. No layering this week!! Just the base card with the sentiment (Corpse Script) and blood splatter printed directly onto it, followed by the dp strip (by Funky Hand) and the image (coloured with the usual watercolour pencils).

I also popped a couple of holes in to represent gunshots (in the 'o' of bloody, and in the splatter).
Not sure if that works or not - whatever!

Hacked to Bits!

How ya doing folks?

Hope you have all had a busy weekend. Hubby and I spent some time in the garden. We started by taking a shed load of rubbish down to the skip. Then a couple of hours were spent at the local DIY stores. Picked up a few bargains at Homebase. A 200 litre waterbutt at £17.95 and stand for £5, plus a few bags of compost.

Got a few bits in B&Q too, along with my new best friend and tool of preference (for the moment) a lovely Mattock!! There I am in the pic below hacking the bejaysus out of the ground, LOL.

More deets are on my garden blog, why not pop across and pay me a visit there!!

Anyroadup, I'm cream crackered now, so it's off to the bath for me!! TTFN!

Venturing Out

Howdeedoodly folks?!

I actually braved the Scottish weather today and ventured into the garden to do a bit of tidying up at last. It was a tad milder than of late, bit windy too, but it's gotta be done! I'll suffer for it later though. Been feeling a bit rough round the edges, probably coming down with one of the kids' lurgies I expect!!

Started off by trimming the hedge as far up as I could reach with the snippers.

So, all those twiggy bits are now in the recycling bin for collection tomorrow. Must try composting again.

Anyways, I set about marking out where the hubby will be having his observatory thingy.

Is that the place you want it hubster? If not, you can move them yourself, they were a bit heavy! You can't tell with this photo, but it looks HUGE! Just about two and a half by two and a half metres. All needs leveling off, but that's for another day when it's a bit warmer and less windy!

Next on the cards was a wee tidy up. Disposed of the remains of an old wooden tub that was rotten, and emptied out some other ones of their old compost. Here they are lined up ready for a clean, along with a few newer ones I bought the other week.

Whilst emptying one tub I found a load of carrots (Flyaway) that had survived the winter!! I completely forgot about planting those, and they seem to have done OK. A couple of them had the maggot and went in the bin, but all these are destined for the Haggis, Neaps and Tatties tonight!! YUM.

Only joking folks! LOL

That's the title of the new theme at Macabre Monday this week!

And I very nearly did. I was going to back out and not create anything this week, as I was at a complete loss what with having no maps in the house!! Until our Glo gave me a bucket load of inspiration! Thanks Glo!!!

And this is what I came up with, a Treasure Map, Pirate Polly and Skull + Crossbones2:

I made a simple background out of the skully image and put them all together with a few stashy bits to make this card:

A close-up of Pirate Polly. She was coloured with watercolour pencils, as was the map. I scanned her into the compy and printed twice for some fussy cut layering up.

There is already a skull and crossbones image in the Delicious Doodles Shop, but this one is more scarey! LOL. It and the other two images here will be available for purchase on Wednesday.

Floral Frenzy

My Edible Garden Plans

Hiya folks!

Just a quickie. I have started up a new blog to document my plans, successes, failures, for my garden here in north east Scotland.

Hubby wants to build a thingy for his telescope to sit on, and I have plans to have mostly edible stuff in the garden, so a huge ripping out session will have to take place, followed by a redesign, etc, etc.

So, if anybody is interested in following my efforts then why not pay me an ickle visit HERE !! LOL

She is part of a winter themed set, Katarina and Lycaonia are the other two.

Need a little Help. . .

Shifting some of my crafty bits!! LOL

Seriously folks, my bedroom is a mess, and I need to sort it or the hubby will chuck it in the bin!!

First thing I came across this afternoon was a box of Valentine/Love stuff, so I have split it into three lots. If you are interested in any of them please shout me - first come, first served. (email- daftncraft at btinternet dot com)

I am going to have to add £1 to each item to cover postage and packaging, hope you don't mind folks.

First up then, this collection of hearts, plus a few rubber stamps. There are ten each of the heart shapes, which are padded, and ten of the bows. The 2pence piece is for scale.

Price= £5.

Next up, two packs of 3d stickers, mostly birthday, but with some hearts.

Price= £1

Then, a collection of red items, A5 cardstock, vellum, 2 sheets of 6x6" paper, small square cards and envelopes, a pack of stickers, a pack of Create & Craft embossed cards and envelopes, a skein of thread, and five each of some padded heart shapes. 2 pence for scale again.

Price= £5

Hope somebody will baggsie these! I have a ton of other stuff to sift through, and will be putting them up here as soon as I have sorted and photographed, so keep your eyes peeled!!

All Things New

Hiya folks!

Brrr, 'tis a chilly start here today, but at least it is dry! Fed up with the grey, windy and damp stuff. Wish spring would hurry on in and warm us all up. I'm itching to get in the garden!!

Hubby has an interview today over in Dyce near Aberdeen. He has to take loads of paperwork with him, so it's looking pretty positive already! Everything crossed for you hubby!!

Today sees the first challenge of the new year over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge, and we start with 'All Things New' to get us going with something nice and easy!

Here is what I made this time:

I have used a few new things here.

First up, the image, which is a new one at the Delicious Doodles Shop: Katarina.

I only printed her out once for a change, and used my watercolour pencils for a bit of colour.

Next new thing was the backing paper, from a set of digi-papers by Raspberry Road, 'Winter Wonderland'. I followed this with some new stickles round the edge, some die-cut corner shapes and a couple of new ice-blue gems. Here is a close-up of the image, which was raised on foam pads:

I added some clear stickles onto her cloak, and a bit of the blue on her eyeshadow, just for some extra bling. Not too noticeable here, but there you go! LOL. The text was added before printing out the paper.

Righty then, off I trot to sort out another image I drew a few days ago. Got as far as scanning it in, and I don't like it!!! Hmmmm... Catch ya later peeps!!

Coming Soon at Delicious Doodles

Hiya folks!

Hope you all had a smashing Christmas with family and friends, and got loads of gorgeous crafting goodies??

Managed to spoil the kiddos again, with Wii games and DS games. The son also got a new telly to plug into his old laptop as the screen had died on his! Got me a new handbag some chocs and a bottle of bailies - yum!

So, with the kiddies occupied with their new games, I have had some doodling time - Yeay!!

These new images will be released in the New Year, on the first. Nothing better to do that day, so I might as well load them into the Delicious Doodles Shop then, LOL.

First up is Katarina:

A lovely girl in a cozy cloak with a rather gorgeous Snow Leopard. Can't believe how endangered these beautiful creatures are. Damned hunters!!!

These images would work wonderfully on winter themed projects - keep your eyes peeled for the Delicious Doodles challenge in a few weeks time, they may come in handy for that! LOL

I am still doodling new images just now, so I may have some more to add to these, who knows?

A Couple More Xmas Cards

Hiya folks!

How are you all keeping, nice and warm I hope?? It is minus 5.5 here in bonny Scotland just now at 8.40am, bbbbrrrrr!! (That's 24 degrees for those in Fahrenheit) Oh, and guess what the headlines are in England today. . . yep, its a BIG FREEZE!! Oh dear guys, get used to it, we DO have winter every year after all!!! LOL

Joking aside, I do hope you all manage to stay safe and warm wherever you are. xxx

I though I would pop in here just to show a couple of cards I made for Christmas. Are you guys all organised yet? I am, for a change!! Everything done and dusted, just the booze and essentials to get next week and that's me! YEAY!! Anyroadup, back to the cards.

My first one features some cute penguins from the Delicious Doodles Shop.

These are named 'Penguin Family'. Original huh? Couldn't think what else to call it, LOL

The papers are my own design, printed in a very pale blue. The frame is a die cut which I smudged blue ink on the edges, and added some clear gems to. Corner pieces are a cuttlebug die. I also added some white gems too, and a white organza ribbon across the middle, although the frame die has hidden most of it! The sentiment is computer generated and printed directly onto the dp. Here is a closeup of the image:

My next card features another of my winter images from the shop, 'A Crofter's Winter'. This one I printed out in a burgundy colour to match the colour theme going on here.

The papers are from a Raspberry Road kit named 'Yuletide'. Plenty of gems added again, cuttlebug die cuts for the corner pieces. Layered up with gold mirri, and wrapped in gift wrap ribbon, with one of those gift wrap bows stuck on too. Will have to redo that bit to get it in the post though!! LOL. A close-up view for you:

Well, my house used to look like this a couple of hundred years ago, except it isn't in this kind of locality. We are in a village, so I have neighbours, sort of. Wish it was in this glen though, lovely and peaceful, aahhhh!!

Righty then, need to get on and sand down the rough patches in the son's bedroom. Almost ready to paint. Our plasterer guy came to prep the windows upstairs yesterday, but he needs to finish it off today, so it won't get painted until the weekend. Sheesh, I knew it would be pushing it to be done before Xmas!! HELP!! LOL. Catch ya later folks!!

Selling Some Stuff

Hiya folks.

In case anyone is interested and actually has any spare dosh at the mo (unlike me!) I'd just like to share with you that I have just added a page above, with some Bows and Bits that I am trying to sell.

I have no further need for any of the things I shall be putting in the page. I bought them ages ago when I was selling cards that I made on ebay, but I haven't done that for over a year now, and thought it was about time I tried to find some extra space!! LOL

At the mo it's just the bows and a few embellies from just one box that has been sorted and photographed, but I will be adding to it as I sort through the other boxes.

Hope some of it is of interest to someone, otherwise it will end up in the bin, and that would be such a waste!!! LOL

X-travagant Xmas

Hiya folks!

Here I am today trying to feel chirpy, and failing miserably. The kids saw fit to share their lurgy with me and the hubster, so I am here posting this with my hankie at the ready!! Lol (cough, splutter! argh!)

It's time again for a new theme at the Delicious Doodles Challenge, and this time I set the challenge (sorry Ruthie and Lyn!). I'm not usually one to over-embellish a card, so I set the theme, 'X-travagant Xmas' to give myself a goal to aim for. I hope I succeeded. Here is the front:

I have used one of my newest images for this creation, 'Holly Fairy', sister to 'Ivy Fairy' that was released a couple of weeks ago. I printed her out several times in a deep green colour and fussy cut out for the layering up. Here is the bottom of the card, which I made into an easel card:

The sentiment is just a printed one off the compy. The wee snowflakes are the bits that are cut out of the corner when I used the corner punch on the front. I added some gold stickles as little dots, and round the bottom dp layer, and also popped some gold brads in the corners. Here is the card in it's entirety:

My papers are from Raspberry Road 'Holiday Elegance' collection. The flower is made using a marianne die, and the tiny flower from Tim Holtz's Tattered Flowers die, along with some gold rub-on and gold stickles, with some mini gold beads for the centre. The holly leaves are a paper punch. The swirly corner in gold is an old sizzix die. The big bow is hand-tied using ribbon from the stash, and the dangly thingy is hand-made using bits cobbled together from old ear-rings and bracelets bought in sales.

Above is a close-up of the image, to which I added some red stickles on the holly berries. Underneath the image is a thin strip of red pearlescent card with a holly patterned edge made with a Fiskars edger punch. I added some red gems to the holes where the berries are supposed to be. The shape behind the image is cut using a marianne doily die, layered onto gold mirri.

Well, not too much use of the hankie I'm glad to say! Catch you all later!!

A Few Chrimbo Cards

Hiya folks!

BBBBBrrrrrrrrrrrrr, it's turned a tad chilly this week!! We have had snow, albeit rather slushy, the son's rugby training is cancelled because of a frozen pitch, so me thinks winter has definately arrived!!! LOL

Builders have finished now, so we are watertight and set for a few more winters knowing the wall isn't going to fall down. Just need our plasterer to come round and do the window recesses where they put new ones in, then we can do the decorating in the kid's rooms. Still hoping to have it all done by Christmas. . .

In the meantime I have been adding more doodles to the Delicious Doodles Shop, and decided it was about time to make some cards from them.

I started off with a monotone one featuring my Brace of Pheasants image:

I kept this one nice and simple. The image was printed in a burgundy colour along with the text, then it was mounted onto similar coloured cardstock. I used the offcuts of that cardstock for the die cut corners, and then added some red pearls that I had in the goody bag from the Crafty Weekend I went on in October.

Here is a close-up of the image:

I decided to keep a simple theme going on this next card.

For this one I used my Christmas Candles image, which was coloured using my watercolour pencils. I splodged some yellowish ink in the corners to blend out some of the whiteness, then layered it onto some patterned paper that was printed out in a similar yellow tone.

The text and the border were also printed out (along with the image). I cut a flower using a Marianne die and some lovely pearlescent coppery card, plus some white to which I added some inky bits. This was attached to the card using a copper brad. Last bit was to add some bling, in the shape of some gold gems.

The splodgy corners were achieved using a stippling brush and ink. Just pick up a wee bit of ink and swirl it about on the paper until you have your desired effect.

It didn't go as I had planned it on this card though. The brush kept on leaving bits of itself behind stuck to the ink and the card, so it was all a bit rough in the end!! I managed to scrape most of it off, but it left some bigger splatts which you can still see, sadly.

I do have a couple more cards to show you all, but I'll save those for a later date. Don't want to overload you with piccies do I??!!! LOL. Catch ya later peeps. Hope you have a great Sunday!

A Gorgeous Ivy Fairy

Hiya folks!!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend?

Mine was spent putting plasterboard up in the kid's bedrooms after having new vellux windows fitted. They left a mess behind that needed sorting, wood and insulation material exposed, so hubby and I tidied that up (sort of, LOL). Now we need our plastering buddy to pop in and give it a lick of plaster before we can repaint the recesses.

We collected our new electric fireplace on Saturday, and put that up in the dining room that we have been 'doing up' too. That room is all but sorted, just a carpet to get done, then my glass bits to get out of the loft. I think we may actually be all done and dusted by Christmas. . . (she says with crossed fingers!)

Speaking of Christmas (see the link there! LOL) I made another card this weekend. Well started it several days ago actually but only finished it up on Sunday. I have used my newest image for this one,

'Ivy Fairy':

She is a sketched image with all the shading already sorted for you. I printed her out a few times in a shade of dark green to match the yummy papers that I found at Raspberry Road (Holiday Elegance). I cut the corners using a loopy design Martha Stewart punch, and a snowflake corner punch that I've had for ages and not used much. Ought to use it more really, it's quite a nice one!

The circular panel behind Ivy Fairy is cut using a Marianne die, which I then layered onto red bazzill. I made this card into an easel card, printing out another dp for the base. Then I put gold stickles round some edges for a bit of bling.

That Marianne die came with a gorgeous flower shaped die in the middle, so I used that here to make these flowers. The middle of the flowers was made using some organza ribbon. To make them, I sewed a running stitch down one side for about eight inches, cut the ribbon, then gathered it by pulling the thread. I secured it by oversewing a few times, and then fiddled with the curled up shape until I got it to look right.

After that I put a large gold brad through the centre of it and the flowers to hold all together. Then I put some gold stickles on the very edges of the ribbon. I rather like this effect, so I may do some more of these if I can be bothered with the fiddly bits!! I then cut some lengths of gold christmas wrapping ribbon, curled then with the back of the scissors and stuck them to the card.

Finally I got the gems out and stuck some either side of the image, and some little gold brads in the corners for some extra bling. I think I should have made a big ribbon bow too with a dangly charm attached, but to be honest, my best ribbon is still in the loft waiting to come down again!

Well, that's my tilers turned up to finish the roof off. All I need now is the builder blokes to turn up and finish the harling, then the jobs a good 'un!! Will have to persuade the hubby to get his arse up the ladder and paint the wall now, LOL. Thank goodness we have had some decent dry weather recently to get the external stuff done. Better get the bio-hazard suit on and tackle the sons bedroom - eeeyugh!!

Hiya folks!

Phew - a bit breezy this morning! I don't envy our builder guys standing on the roof today with all the dust flying about. Rather them than me, LOL.

I have a card for you today - woohoo! Things have been so 'up in the air' just recently that I haven't had a lot of crafting time. But I did manage to make this card for the new theme at the

Delicious Doodles Challenge which this fortnight is 'Remembrance'.

It's Armistice Day here in the UK, and on Sunday this week it is Remembrance Day when the whole nation remembers the brave people who died defending our country and the freedom of it's people. It's our way of showing our respect for their valiant sacrifices. Without them this country wouldn't be the place that it is today. BUT for our challenge, you need not mark this event for your remembrance make. You could just remember a birthday or something else. Up to you!

So here is my card, made using one of my new images - Poppy:

I coloured her in using my usual watercolour pencils, then scanned in the compy and printed for the layers. I added some stickles here and there, but you can't tell in these piccies, not the greatest of light these days up here in bonny (?) Scotland! LOL.

My papers are made by myself using some damask patterns I had on the compy, and colour tweeked, merged and messed with. Then I added some of the little poppies from the image to the paper in the corners.

I also added some lovely red pearls for some extra bling. Just the job me thinks! My layout was following an old Mojo Monday sketch from a week or so ago.

Righty then, off to do some more DIY in the dining room. Much as I enjoy decorating and DIY I'll be glad when I'm done. Not used to doing a whole house in one go. . . I'm cream crackered!!

HOLY FECK!!

Have you been missing me? No? Phooey to you then! LOL

I've been MIA just lately.

As some of you know, we have been having our house knocked about, first of all with our gable end wall, which is all sorted and straight now. Phew! At least it will see us through many a winter from now on. It was debateable whether that wall would have seen through many more storms or snowfalls, but at least that is now sorted.

After that, it took the effing builders weeks, I say WEEEEEEEEKSS to get their arses round to doing the roof. We needed our old, and I mean VERY old tiles replaced, but it was undecided whether to have the whole front of the roof done, timbers and all, until the tiles came off. And at LAST they turned up this week to do just that.

Well, at first we thought the timbers looked fine, but on closer inspection the guy said no - they were CRAP and needed to be replaced too. THEN, while some of those timbers came off, it came to light that the whole underside of the roof was FECKED TOO. I mean totally gobsmackingly knackered - take a look -

LORD knows how this roof stayed up for over a hundred years, they did such a cobbled up job when they roofed ON TOP of the old thatch that was there originally - you can still see it here:

In effect, we have TWO roofs!! The original roof with old tree trunks for roof rafters, and then boards tacked to that with the old heather thatching. Then approx 100 years or so ago they re-roofed the thing on top of the original roof, by putting slats over the thatch, and then timber boards, and then some effing HUGE, thick tiles. Those tiles by the way totally fell apart as they were being removed, so they were DEFO in need of replacement.

Anyway, the short and the curlies of it is that the whole thing is now going to cost us ten grand!! HELP!!

On a happier(?) note we have had to do some redecorating because of the disruption and mess. First up was the kitchen, which was finished up just before I went on the crafty weekend last month. When I got back it was down to it again in the girls' bedroom, which I built a kind of wardrobe in - as yet to be finished properly, along with some fabric for a window dressing. I won't get to do that until the new windows go in upstairs following the roof rebuild. I'll take some photies when it's done.

Meantime, we got peed off waiting for Mr Builder to come and sort the inside out, so started to do it ourselves, and here is our work in progress (excuse the grafitii - hubby and kids!!))

This is the dining room, or it was. I had the compy in there, along with all my crafty stash which is now all boxed up and unavailable. This is why there isn't much coming out of my crafty corner just now.

All this extra work means I also haven't been doodling much recently. Blame the hubby being off work for that - slavedriver! LOL. Poor old fogey is suffering with his elbow (RSI me thinks) and his knee swollen up (rugby training), plus his never ending tiredness with sleep aopnia (spelling?).

Ah well, at least he knows how to use the washing machine and cooker while I'm sawing and drilling and hammering and painting and papering (sigh)

Jeez - this was only meant to be a quick update post - oooopps!! LOL

A Christmas Card

Hiya folks!

Thought it was about time I made a Christmas card. Don't know why I wanted to, maybe it was something to do with the image. I drew Christina a couple of weeks back and wanted to make something with it then, but hadn't got round to it yet. Lord knows I haven't been in the mood for anything to do with Christmas just yet, still not really what with all that has been going on in this house recently, but it's a case of forcing oneself to get on with it!!

Anyways, I coloured Christina in with my usual watercolour pencils, scanned her in and printed her off the right size a few times for my layering. I also used my Poinsettia Corner for this card, up in the top left, coloured in white to match the one in her hair.

I layered the image onto gold mirri, then onto a frameabilities die shape which I had threaded some gold metallic ribbon through. My dp is from Bearly Mine Designs, and I smudged some green ink round the edges of that before sticking it all to some dark green card. Last thing I added was a few little red pearls in the top right corner, and some stickles, which are hardly visible in these photos.

Righty then. Need to get off here and get on with decorating the kids rooms. We couldn't be bothered to wait for the builders to take the panels down that protected the inside of the house whilst they rebuilt the external wall. Effing blokes have been FOREVER getting round to finishing what they started. Still waiting for them to retile the roof, and fit some new windows. At the rate they aren't going it will be spring before they get here. That's if the roof tiles don't come down in all the snow during the winter.

So we started to remodel and decorate the girls' room a couple of weeks back after doing out our kitchen. Still putting the finishing touches to it, but then it's the turn of our son who is very slow at tidying it all away for us to work in there. Might end up with us doing it for him!! LOL

Boy, have I been slacker! Last week I almost forgot to post the new releases I had ready, so they ended up a bit late. This week I am on time, but I forgot to post about the new releases last week, and so I am doing a combined post today!

A couple of makes

Hiya folks!

Thought it was time I popped on here and showed you what I made at the crafty weekend I went on a week or so ago. Sheesh - was it that long since we had all those giggles??

We had such a HUGE goody bag - I had to seperate it all out and literally stuff it all in the suitcase to get it home on the plane. Had to leave the cardstock though, as the case would have exceeded the weight limit!! LOL. Luckily my Mum's next door neighbour makes cards, so I let her have that. I shied away from using the sculpy clay stuff too. Something I will probably never use, but the kids might.

On to the makes. First up, I played with a Gothic rubber stamp from Crafts and Me, but I played it safe and used my pencils for the colouring. I could have used the markers that were on the table, but I didn't get on very well using them in the tiny spaces, even though they did have a pointed brush nib. Here is what I made:

Everything used here was from the goody bag, or from samples lying around the room, except for the silver brad heads that I took with me, and the flowers that were made using the punches I took. Here is a close-up:

Next I used a fairy stamp from Crafts and Me, coloured again with my pencils. The paper was Crafty Emma I think, cardstock from the samples, as was the lovely Marianne die corner. Pearls from the goody bag.

Another close-up, I raised the image up on foam pads for this card:

Finally, I bit the bullet and got the jewellery goodies out. What a gorgeous selection!! Sarah (Tiggertastic) provided a little leaflet to explain how to make parts and join things together - which was very useful (Thanks hun!), and I had a go at making a bracelet like a sample from that leaflet, and here it is:

Must say, I am rather impressed!! I used purple beads in three shapes, and some gold ones to go with the gold metalwork. It was all a bit fiddly, but worked out fine in the end once I got used to it all.

Hiya folks!!

Been ages since I blogged any makes. Me bad - but then, the mojo has taken a bit of a hit in the last couple of weeks what with things happening around here. Can't go into that though at the moment.

BUT - having been away last weekend on a crafty retreat, I suddenly found myself with a bit! I managed a new doodle, which I released yesterday, and I also made a card with my 'Rosalee' image released a week or so ago. Here it is:

I have used some of the humungous stash of goodies that Amy gave us all to play with - the gorgeous filigree corners (edged with green ink), the cream, green and pink cardstock, large green gem, pink cosmic shimmer and a Marianne die that I bought for the flower.

For the Rosalee image, I coloured with watercolour pencils, and smudged pink ink round the image using some stencil brushes from the goody bag. This isn't showing up too well on these pics. The image has also been layered for extra depth.

As I said, the flower is made from a Marianne doily die I bought, with this flower die that comes with it. The centre is made using a punched shape, topped off with green gem. I saw some of the ladies at the weekend using the new die that makes these rolled up rose shapes, but I also noticed in blogland that these can be made just by cutting a circle roughly, and then cutting round on the inside (like we used to do at school to make spiral hangers), so that's what I did to make the two adjacent flowers. I inked the edges in a dark pink, and the used the cosmic shimmer for some bling.

Papers are from an old Tinker & Co set. Hot pink card from my own stash. Fern shapes cut with a sizzix die using green bazzill. An MS punch was used for the loopy edge on the pink paper, and some white gems were added, these were from my own stash too.

I'll be back later in the week to show you what I made at the crafty weekend, not that we made much - too much boozing and giggling going on for that!! LOL

Tales of the Unexpected

Hiya folks!

Another fortnight has flown by, so I find myself here with my piece for the

Delicious Doodles Challenge, which this time is:

'Tales of the Unexpected'

Now this can be interpretted however you wish. Your unexpected thing could be a hidden something, an unusual style, exploding box, whatever!

I have a couple of unexpected things with my card. I unexpectedly made the thing in the first place. Was going to miss out on this one as time is so pressing at the mo, plus I haven't been a well bunny.

I made the card for our teamie Lyn (Blackdragon) who had a family bereavement, and I wanted to send her a something to show my support and hopefully offer a bit of comfort. Now our Lyn is a lover of all things BLACK, plus she is a bit of a Pagan, so I searched online for a pagan funeral verse to use on the card.

This is the front:

My dp is a lovely rose backing that I founf somewhere. It was coloured originally, but I made it black for this occasion. The frame is a frameabilites die. I wrapped some wide black ribbon round and tied in a bow to the side of the frame. The verse is continued on the inside:

I used my Rose image for the two little roses here, flipping one the other way. The verse panels are edged with black and green ink and layered onto silver mirri. I added some clear gems to the front.

My second 'unexpected' thing is my message that I put underneath the verse. I am not showing that here, as that bit is private, even though there isn't anything unusual about that.

I am not entering any challenges with this card, as that would be a bit unethical I think.

Hiya folks!

How y'all keepin'?? Hope all is well in your neck of the woods??

All is fine here today, well, apart from the greyness of the day.

Nothing unusual there really. Used to it being grey now. It comes as a nice surprise when we do get some sun! LOL. My veggies hate it mind you, looks like another naff harvest this year. How do the farmers manage to keep going up here with all the naff weather we have. It's no wonder food prices keep rising!!

Argh, I wasn't going to have a grumble! Ah well, whateva! LOL

Onto my card, which today is my creation for the

Delicious Doodles Challenge,

and this time round we are 'Cute as a Button'.

Anything cute, as long as we get to see at least one button! LOL

I chose to use my Delicious Doodles Sniffing Daisies image:

And here is the card I made with her, following an old layout sketch from Papertake Weekly.

My dp's are from an old set by Tinker & Co, Tranquility.

I have used some lace from my stash, two pieces in two colours over a brown piece of dp, with some tiny red gems on top of it. The image was coloured previously, so I just printed it out again and fussy cut some layers. I added some light blue stickles to her dress, and to the flowers.

The flowers are made using spare card from the bits box, my ne Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die, but the two small shapes rather than the bigger ones. I inked the petals, and added stickles in red on the edges and blue dots just inside. Then I put my buttons in for the centres. Some blue gems were added to the bottom of the card. They aren't in the sketch, but the card needed it!!

I also added a ribbon bow made from a valentines leftover, and attached a handmade charmy thing. This was made using bits I rescued from jewellery sales.

Teenage Birthday

Hiya folks!

Well, I don't know what happened to this huge storm we were supposed to have. It totally missed us here in NE Scotland. Now all we have is the rain left, and that is set for the day. Looks like the garden will have to wait - again! LOL

I popped by today to show this card I made for my Daughter's thirteenth birthday. Heck, where did those years go to?? Now, she happens to be a bit of a 'mini-me', in that she is into Goth stuff, but I didn't want to go too overboard with it, and wanted to be a bit girly, and this is the result:

Last week I went into the local craft shop and picked up the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die for the sizzix/big shot, and I had a play with that. The flowers here are what I made with it using black card and some gorgeous burgundy leather effect paper which was nice and thick. Had that for years and never used it, so this was the perfect opportunity.

I used a bit of black ink to smudge across the burgundy shapes, and I smudged gold metallic rub on over too, and also the black card. Then I curled the shapes with my bone folder and fastened the shapes with a black brad that was also smudged with gold rub-on.

The text was typed directly onto the backing dp from Crafty Chaos Designs before printing. I then smudged black ink round the dp after it was mounted onto the base card. I cut a butterfly from black card, twice, using my shapeabilities die, which I also smudged with gold rub on to tie in with the rest of the card. Last job was a bit of bling in the shape of some large black gems.

I think she liked it! LOL.

OK, need to go and do the online Tesco shop now (dull), then I think I may just try and find my excercise dvd and have a go at that. That's if I can get shot of this hot flush. . . Catch ya later folks!!

A Little Update

Hiya folks!!

Thought I'd swing by and give any interested parties a quick update on things here at Doodle Cottage.

Things are ticking over with the building works. The gaping hole in the side of the house is gradually being filled with block rather than stone - makes for a more sturdy wall, not so prone to wander me thinks!! LOL Tell you what though - it's blooming drafty!! Especially the last day or two with all the wind we have had here. A quick piccie for you:

Not supposed to be a very good weekend here according to the weather man, so I hope they get up to roof level by then. Would be nice to get watertight and draftproof again!!

On a completely seperate theme - hubby took a photo of ickl ol' me last night when I got the son's snake out of his tank. Man, he has grown!! Gotta be a good 18 inches/two foot long now. And to think, back in April when we first got him, he was such a wee thing.

Who would have thought this time last year that I would be quite at home with a snake! Mind you, I still hate spiders - you would NEVER catch me with one of them in my hand!!!

A Fresh Start

Hiya folks!

It's a brand new season, and a brand new start for the

Delicious Doodles Challenges!!

We are BACK after a nice long summer break, time spent with the family during the school holidays.

The kids are now back at school - have been here in Scotland for two weeks now, and already they are bringing home lurgies and bugs. I have had Dno1 off school for the most of this week with a cold/sickie, and the son has had a headache all week. (sigh)

We have a few brand new players on the Delicious Doodles DT, so it was quite fitting to have the first challenge as 'Fresh Start' - use your new/fresh stuff.

Now, my card today started life as something completely different, it was meant to be a landscape A5 card with witches and stuff on it, but I wasn't happy with how it was progressing on the compy, so it ended up being this instead:

I used a new image that isn't due to be released into the Delicious Doodles Shop until next Wednesday 7th September. I totally missed this week's release day due to the builders being here, but hey - there'll be two images for next week now won't there?!! LOL. This one is called 'Evil Skully'.

I decided to make an easel card after scrapping the first idea, so out came the black card. My papers are from Susan at Crafty Chaos Designs, part of a paper pack named 'Absolution Deferred'. I smudged the edges of this with black and red ink. The card edges were smudged with gold and silver metallic rub-ons.

I have used my fav die for the frame, cutting out a red and black shapes and layering them slightly offset to each other, with foam pads between to give some depth. Evil Skully was inked with the same inks, and some brown as well, and was layered too.

My sentiment is another image from the Delicious Doodles Shop, named 'Happy Helloween Sentiment'. I smudged the ink all over it and added some orange and a wee bit of green to the pumpkin. This was layered onto another bit of black card with smudgy bits, and raised from the base card. I added some red brads in two sizes, and inked them with some black to dull them down a bit.

Lastly, I got a new ribbon out from my stash. Got that a few weeks back and haven't used it until now (me BAD!). It has a little loopy edge to it. I tied a bow and made a charm from some jewellery bits I scavenged from sales, and charms (thanks for the animal skull Glo!), and attached it to the bow.

An Update

Hiya folks!!

Thought I would nip on and give you all an update on things here. I haven't got any new images today, things are hectic just now, albeit a week later than planned. The builders came yesterday morning and made a start on the gable end. Thank goodness we decided to do something about the lean, the guy said it probably wouldn't have lasted another winter!! Hasn't done too badly though, it is 212 years old!!

Anyway, they disposed of the chimney stack pretty quickly, and got to work on the wall along the roof line. They have a huge cherry picker, and the guy was standing in that and putting the stones in it to dispose of, but just after they got past where the roof joins the wall they backed up to go tip the stones out, and half the wall came down!! Thank F*** nobody was stood underneath it!!! Felt like a bloody earthquake!!

I can't believe how thick the wall is (was) there, with the chimney stack and all it must be at least two feet thick! Anyroadup, they are getting down to the foundation digging part already, here is a piccie that I took this morning:

Now you can see why things are all over the place. Downstairs is where the dining room is. You can see the remnants of the fireplace at the bottom there. Everything had to come out of that room just in case things went 'tits up' as we say here!! Although we couldn't move the table and we left my grandmas old sideboard there too, tucked against the far wall inside. But we had my craft table, and the compy in there, as well as all my crafty stuff, so our poor loft space is groaning under the wieght of it all. The loft by the way is to the left on the extension which is our bedroom.

Upstairs behind the green sheeting is the girls' bedroom. Had to find space for all that stuff too. Dno1 is squeezed into son's bedroom across the landing, along with her clothes cupboard. Dno2 is in with me along with her clothes cupboard and many boxes of 'other stuff'. Poor hubby is demoted to the sofa. Mind you, nothing new there, as he snores like a trooper, and got ousted by me anyway!! That way we both get some sleep, otherwise I'd be awake all night jabbing him in the ribs!

So, things are a bit chaotic just now. I am still doodling but things are a bit slow and cramped. Cardmaking is a challenge too, as my things are all over the place and I keep forgetting where I put it all. . . I have a humungous headache. Not sure if it is stress or because of the position I am sitting in on the compy, or the weather as that has been crappy too just lately, but I have a LARGE stash of paracetamol so I might just hit that in a bit.

Right - off to do some more on an image that I AM working on - hope to get it done later today, headache allowing!

Queen of the Damned

Hiya folks!

Hope you all had a great weekend? Ours was lovely and sunny for a change. Couldn't enjoy it though, too much to sort out inside for the builders next week (HELP!). And there is still loads to do!! Still, the kiddies are back to school tomorrow (YEAY!!) so plenty of peace and quiet to sift through the Son's crud-ooops, I mean stuff on the floor to find space for Dno1's bed to go in. Will have to dismantle Dno2's bed and have her in with me. Poor hubby gets the sofa. . .

Speaking of hubby - he's been a naughty boy! (no, not in THAT way! LOL). Seeing as we have some dosh in the account (supposedly to pay the builders with) he went and bought a rather large flat screen TV!

Him BAAAAD!

So yesterday afternoon/evening was spent playing with that. Must admit though, it's a fab picture and the sound is much better than the old telly. Hmmm, might just let him off . . .

OK, onto the card today, which is my DT piece for Macabre Monday.

"Queen of the Damned"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece

that uses royalty, crowns, and/or thrones as the focus.
This doesn't have to focus on the movie with the same name (though it may)... just as long as it has that royally creepy touch, it qualifies!

Oh dear, I thought. What have I got that has crowns or thrones? Nowt, the cupboard is bare in that department. So, out came the drawing pad, and some visual references to said movie (although I read the book many moons ago and haven't seen the movie yet).

Went and doodled me two images for this one. An Egyptian Queen, and an Egyptian Throne.

These are going into the Delicious Doodles Shop on Wednesday.

I merged these two images in photoshop and printed them together for colouring with the watercolour pencils. I always print on an A4 size first, as my pencilwork tends to be rather rough and goes over the lines. When it gets scanned back in and made smaller you don't notice my crappy colouring work so much!! LOL

Now, I couldn't find my paper that had Egyptian hieroglyphs on it (packed away I expect) so I hade to make my own up. Fortunately I found some photoshop brushes I could download, so that's what I did. I used them to make the dp behind the image, and went over the edges with a brown ink pad.

I didn't have any lovely large jewels or beads, so I had to make do with some large black oval shaped ones that I picked up in Tesco a while back. I think they do just fine, but I would have preferred a lovely blood red, or a vivid blue. . . whatever! I also added some brads to the corners, and sponged some gold ink on top of them.

The image was layered onto some gold mirri and then black card. I only did one layer to pop up this time, as it was getting late and I had a neck ache from cutting out with the scalpel on my drawing board (which has to be put away too!) Should have sat on the sofa with the snippy scissors to do it, but hey, hindsight is a wonderful thing!!

Right, gonna love ya and leave ya now then. Getting the kids organised for school today (yawn!)

Sniffing Daisies

Hiya folks!

Hope you are all well and are having some sunshine where you are? All is wet and soggy up here in Scotland (again), but are we downhearted? Well, maybe just a bit, LOL.

Which is why I decided to cheer myself up and make this here card using my newest release in the

Delicious Doodles Shop, 'Sniffing Daisies':

I have done one of my favourite cards, a twisted easel, and have used a sketch for the layout of the front part (deets in challenge list at bottom of post). Here is that part then:

My papers are from a brand new FREEBIE from an old buddy who is making a welcome return after having a really naff time of it away from blogland. Remember Tinker & Co? Well Jo is making a comeback and is sorting through her store as we speak (can't wait 'til it reopens) and has got a new blog too, with the papers seen here as her first FREEBIE. Why not pop over and take a looky. . .

Back to the card then! Papers from Tinker & Co, as are the elements on the front - the big flower and the ribbon. I printed the flower a few times, and snipped it in layers and popped it up with foam pads. The ribbon I printed twice, once for the bit going across, then again for the tied bit so I could give it the 3D treatment!! I added some gems in the corner for some bling, and put stickles on the image on the daisies.

On the base I used those papers again, with the blue one punched in the corners with an MS Around the Page corner punch. The flowers here are all handmade with card from my stash using punches and brads for their centres. I then put little dots on their petals using dimension paint. Love that effect!! Also added a couple of heart shaped gems, one to help the card stay up, the other just to equal it out.

Above you can see the flower and ribbon in detail. Meant to add some stickles to the flower, but completely forgot about that until now as I sit here typing! Oh well. . . The detail on these elements is just fab - you'd never tell they were just paper until you look closer!!

And lastly a close-up of my image, Sniffing Daisies, coloured with the usual watercolour pencils, scanned in and printed out for the layers. I have got into the habit of having the image appearing to come out of the frame, which is an effect I saw many moons ago when I used to watch an artist do his paintings on the telly, anyone remember Bob Ross?? Sadly I could never reproduce his wonderous pieces, just haven't got the patience to let oils dry, but I remembered what he used to do and this is my way of doing it.

Okee-dokee peeps. Gotta dash, as I have had the building start date (22nd August) so I need to get the rest of the house sorted and reorganised. So if anyone wants any of that stuff I have for sale in the tabs at the top of this blog - then get in quick as I REALLY NEED to shift it NOW!!!

In the Pumpkin Patch

Hiya folks!

How y'all keeping? Hope your summer is treating you better than our grey skies and dampness? Poor kids have only had a few nice days to go out and play. We are all going a bit stir crazy!!

Anyroadup, I have managed to make a card today using the image released last week,

'In the Pumpkin Patch':

Which I have combined with another Delicious Doodles image, 'Pumpkin Corner', to make this Autumnal/Harvest/Fall themed card:

I have also designed a brand new paper ready for all those autumnal projects, available now in the Shop,

'Autumn Paper' which comes in colour as the preview below, and also as greyscale, which is what I used for my card above.

The greyscale paper was colour adjusted using my page programme to look autumnal by using brown and cream colours. I have used a previously coloured version of my Pumpkin Corner image, which I printed directly onto the paper, then seperately to cut out my layers.

I have mounted my Pumpkin Patch image onto a brown card made using a lovely new die that I bought a couple of weeks ago. This was smudged on the edges with some gold metallic rub-on.

Last job was to make a bow using some ribbon from the stash, and add some gems also from the stash.

Hiya folks!

Hope you are all well and ready for a crafty weekend?? Mine will be spent sorting through more stuff. Still no confirmed date for the builder to start work. He was supposed to let us know by the end of this week, great way to start huh?? Anyway, hopefully I will be able to get some more rubbah in the For Sale page at the top later today - as long as Dno1 doesn't nab the compy!!

I actually managed to make a card a day or so ago, so I though I had better blog it!! I decided to do a relatively clean and simple design, as I wanted the image to be the main focal point. I have used my Seahorses image from the Delicious Doodles Shop for this card, coloured with the usual watercolour pencils, scanned and printed twice for the layering.

This image is also available from Sweet Pea Stamps for you ladies who love rubber!! (YEAY!)

I used my fav frameabilities die cut in blue bazzill, layered onto pearlescent green. I the layered that onto a yellow that I smudged with orange and red ink, and placed that onto the backing dp which is a fabric effect paper from Just So Scrappy - By The Sea kit.

I smudged aqua and green ink round the image, layered that onto gold mirri and place it on the frame. I finished up with some stickles on the bubbles, round the edge of the gold mirri, and put some large pearls in the corners. Finished!!

Mind you, it took me four months to get round to colouring this image up - I released it in March!! Where does the time go??!!! LOL

Righty then, must go and get dressed (sat here in me jammies) ready for the kids, as they want to visit the craft fair in the playing field today. It's the Speyfest Weekend with all the pounding music until 1am (sigh). Wish they'd move it away from the houses and into a farmers field. It made something in my bedroom rattle last night with the flaming drums. Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of fiddle music, but they have the drums turned up WAY too loud, and that's all you can hear. . .

Enough moaning! Off to find some challenges to enter, catch ya later folks!!

Hi again folks!

Eeeek, I have only got a couple of weeks before the builder gets here to pull the wall down and rebuild it, so I have to get cracking and sort through all my crafty stuff and make some blooming space!!

So, I have had a wee rummage today. Man have I taken some photos!! I have loaded soe more stuff on the FOR SALE page, a few rubber stamps, a few bows/ribbons and bits.

I have also started a brand new page at the top of this blog, just for selling the dies that I am not needing any more, of which there are just a few! LOL

I think tomorrow I will sort the stamps into one page, and have the other page for odds and ends, so that will be three pages of stuff to get rid of!!

Stupendous Steampunk!

Hiya folks!

Hope you are all enjoying the same sunny weather as we are here in Scotland? Makes a fabulous change from the usual grey! LOL

I have a few bits to share with you today.

Last weekend I released a new Steampunk style image, named Tattoos and Feathers into the Delicious Doodles Shop - here she is:

Well, since then I have been working on another little corner image to match this and the Cogs Corner one that is already in the shop, and today I am releasing it too.
Here it is then, 'Steampunk Corner':

And the backing paper - Steampunk Paper:

I used the corner image to make a matching backing paper above. It is a greyscale image (black and white), but you should be able to change it up in whatever package you use. I happen to have an old version of QuarkExpress, which enables be to do just that, and I made a card with all these elements below:

I have used a lovely jade coloured bazzill for the base card, then I used the new backing paper and made the background of it a goldy yellow colour, and the actual picture a reddish brown, which goes a lovely orangey shade with the gold beneath it. I love QuarkExpress!!!

I did the same thing with the backing behind the image, but used a jade colour and the goldy colour. Below is a close-up of the Steampunk Corner, which I made into a brown colour, and printed directly onto the backing papers (no fussy cutting!) Then I printed out another corner piece to get the layer, and fussy cut that.

I didn't add much in the way of froo-froo, not my style. But I did add a lovely ribbon, which is a christmas one, but with the little angels cut off (it came with angels stuck to it). The beads were on it already too, but I left them on. Then I just added some eyelets in the four corners and left it at that, oh, apart from the layered image that is. She was coloured with the usual watercolour pencils, and scanned in for printing up layers.

Phew - are you still with me? LOL

Right, off to plan a special sketch for a special person now, sshhhhh!! Not telling who. . . Catch ya later folks!!!

STAMPS FOR SALE

Hiya folks!

Some of you may be aware that I am having the gable end rebuilt on the house fairly soon, and as a result I will have to have a HUGE clearout of the rooms adjacent to that.

One of those rooms just happens to be where I do my creative stuff, what the heck I will do with it all I don't know. . .

So I decided to start having me a sort through before the crunch comes, and that means shifting some stuff!!

First box I came across is my little box of RUBBAH - these are all Sweet Pea Stamps, namely Ching Chou-Kuik images.

As there are quite a few images, I am putting them all on a page at the top of this blog, so if anyone is interested that is where they are.

They are already backed with easy-foam ready to stick to your acrylic blocks. Yes they are used, but not much. Maybe two or three times at the most, and certainly not all of them, so they are all in very good condition.

I shall be adding to the page as and when I have stuff to shift, and believe me there is a fair bit, not all stamps I hasten to add, as I don't have a lot of rubbah being a digi person!! So if nothing appeals to you just yet, keep checking back, you never know!!

Flourishes and Bling at Delicious Doodles

Hiya folks!

Can you believe it? Yet another school year has passed and it's the last day of term here in Scotland!! Six weeks of refereeing to come!! As if I haven't got enough to worry about.

Hubby wants me to get a 'proper job'! Eeeeekkkkk!! Haven't done that for 13 years, what am I supposed to do?

I trained as Graphic Designer, have worked in the media all my days (apart from a wee break to work in pubs) so what do I do now after having the kids? Do I resort to shop work? We have a couple of co-op shops here in the village, a couple of butchers which run themselves really, a chippy and three pubs. Oh decisions, decisions! And all so we can afford to remortgage the house and get the work done on the roof and gable end (which needs a total rebuild as it is falling down!)

What I really need is for my little digi-image business to really take off BIG time!! Then I won't have to go to work 'properly'! LOL

Anyway, my woes aside, I actually have a creation to share with you today! 'About blooming time' I hear you say! LOL. So here I am with my DT piece for the new theme at the

Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog,

which this week is

'Flourishes and Bling'.

We have a fabby sponsor, all the way from Australia, in the shape of

Flourish with a Bling.

They sent us some lovely samples to work with, and a gorgeous prize package to give to one lucky winner!! I got to play with the flourish by the name of 'Jack, black', and here is what I made with it:

I decided to go with a 'stepper' card this time.

Started off following a sketch, but it wasn't happening for me, so I just went with the flow. I have used my newest images from the Delicious Doodles Shop,

'Dragonlets and Me',

which I coloured with my watercolour pencils, scanned, and printed for layering.

The flourishes were stuck to some gold mirri card for extra stability (and more bling!) I then punched and die cut some flower shapes, and secured them with a gold brad. I stuck some gold card die cut shapes in three of the corners, and smeared round the base card with gold metallic rub-on.

The image was mounted onto gold mirri, and then onto a black embossed card which was also smudged with rub-on. This I stuck to the main card base, and went round finally with gold gems for some more bling!

Now, this is the last challenge for the summer.

We are taking a break over the school holiday period, and will be back in September, either on the 2nd or the 9th, we haven't decided which yet!

Say 'Aaaawwwwhhh'. . .

Hiya folks!

Been a busy old few weeks here at DD central, LOL.

What with new ventures, and kids off ill, and also the worry of finding some dosh to re-build our gable end wall, things have been rather hectic!

Some of you may be aware that I recently announced that some of my images are being made into rubber by Lynette at Sweet Pea Stamps, and that my first plate is up and ready for pre-ordering.

I'd just like to say a HUGE Thank You!! to all who have wished me well - you are the best!!

There is another announcement to be made, but that's a little while down the road just yet, and I am unable to tell :(

Don't fret though, as soon as I can I will let you know!!

Now, today sees a new theme at the

Delicious Doodles Challenge,

which this week is 'Cute and Cuddly'

how easy is that then folks?!!

For my (very quickly thrown together) card, I have used my 'Cute Kitty' image, coloured with the usual watercolour pencils, scanned, and then printed for layering with foam pads. I layered this onto some white linen effect card, smudged with black ink round the edges, then layered onto some red pearlescent card.

That in turn was placed on foam pads on top of some white paper with the sentiment printed on, and wrapped round with some spare ribbon from a christmas pressie. To finish off I added a few gems in the corners, and mounted onto plain red cardstock.

Right, off to finish up an image for release next Wednesday, oh, and maybe get some weeding done in the garden while the sun is out, and hopefully some washing dry. . .

Really Exciting News!!

Well, it is for me anyway! LOL

Hiya folks!

Hope you are all keeping well and have had great weekends? Mine was spent entertaining visitors that were only supposed to be staying for one night, but ended up here for three days! But enough already - on to the news. . .

My designs are being made into rubbah!!!

This is so exciting for me - I've been wanting to get some of my images done into rubber for a while now, and I finally plucked up the courage to ask about it.

Most of you will be aware of my little shop,
Delicious Doodles,
where I sell my own digi-images.

Now, I am very pleased to announce that the lovely Lynette at Sweet Pea Stamps has been granted the licence to sell some of my images as rubber stamps, and these will be available for purchase very shortly.

Wooopeeeeeee!!

Can you tell that I am over the moon about this?? LOL

I know there are quite a few people who haven't dabbled in the digi market yet, so to break into the rubbah scene is fabulous for me, and I am well chuffed to say the least!!

Just hope the peeps out there want to buy my images as rubber. I'd be gutted if no-one liked them!!

Hope you haven't missed me too much?? Been rather busy just lately and haven't had any spare time to blog sadly! Even missed making a card for last week's challenge at Delicious Doodles. But not so this week!!

I have made amends by making up this tutorial today.

A few weeks back I made a sort of easel card with two sides to it, and was asked by several peeps to do a tutorial for how I made it, so for this week's 'Things that Flutter' theme at the Delicious Doodles Challenge, I combined it with this tut!

So be warned folks - very photo heavy posting!!!! LOL

OK, so I started by printing out a few of my Small Butterfly images, in various sizes, just in black and white with no extra colouring. I also printed out my newest image, Lovey-Dovey Silhouette, and a sentiment that says 'congratulations!'. Then I gathered various bits of card, black bazzil, normal white card and some white linen effect card. I cut an A5 (210mm x 148mm) sized piece of white linen card for the base.

Then I cut a piece of normal white card into a 148mm x 296mm, folded it lengthways to make 148mm x 148mm, then folded it diagonally to get the bit you need for the easel part. I also cut a 100mm x 200mm piece and did the same to that for the smaller part of the easel. This is how both pieces looked after I did that:

Then I trimmed down the square unfolded bit and stuck some double sided tape to the trimmed edges like so:

I stuck the larger piece to the behind of the A5 sized panel on the left, and the smaller piece to the top like this:

This is how it looks with the pieces stuck on and folded:

Now for the fun bits! LOL

I cut two shapes using my shapeabilities die and smudged the edges in black ink:

With one shape I stuck it to some black bazzill and smudged silver metallic rub on over the black, and then mounted my sentiment panel onto it:

The second shape I cut into quarters, and then trimmed the sticky-outy bits to look like this:

Then I stuck these onto another piece of black bazzill, with the Lovey-Dovey Silhouette image stuck on top of that, also smudged with silver rub on:

Next I stuck the sentiment panel onto the easel part at the top, but remembered to turn it sideways so it went the right way for standing up. Did that wrong before, and it came out sideways when I stood that bit up!

To the image panel I added a strip of linen card and punched out the side with a MS 'around the page' punch, smudged with black ink again, and then mounted it onto the easel part on the left side:

And here it is, the base construction, but without any added froo-froo:

If you are, I am going to show you how I make my butterflies stand out.

I start with my fussy cut butterflies, or punched shapes for that matter

I fold by butterflies in half along the body and by both wings, like so:

Then, with the bone folded I curl the wing over it which makes it bend like this:

Do that on both sides, and ta-da! One 3d butterfly!

Anyone interested in how I make my flowers? OK, well here goes!

First I punch some shapes with my selected punches:

Then using my inks and rub ons I smudge the petal edges:

With one shape in the palm of my hand, I use the back end of the bone folder to rub the centre of the shape to get it to curl and make a basin shape

Then holding each shape by the centre, I use the bone folder again to curl the petals, like I did with the butterfly wings

For the smaller flowers shapes I use the rounded end of a pen to press the centre downwards

Then it's just a case of assembling with a bit of glue, and whatever you want to use for the centre. I have used some silver brads for this card, but I could have used a gem or a bead.

Now, to finish my card, I added all my little butterflies, the flowers, some curling ribbon, regular organza ribbon, some black swirly sticky shapes and some pearls:

And there you have it! The finished card:

Phew!! I don't know about you, but I need more coffee!!

Hiya folks!

At last Payloadz has sorted themselves out and I have been able to upload a new image to the Delicious Doodles Shop - hoorah!!

This Sunday just gone saw my hubby's 40-somethingth birthday, and being an avid astronomer I thought I would do a silhouette of a guy gazing at the stars, just like him (but not in the summer here in Scotland - it doesn't get dark enough!)

And here is the result, 'Stargazer':

And here is the card I made for him using it:

I used an image of the milky way that I found on the net for a backing to the silhouette, with it in front, and an extra layer. Kept it really simple, with just a greeting and that was it! A closer version:

Well, he liked it anyway!

Hiya folks, how you all keeping?

Feeling a bit stressed at the mo myself. Got so much on, and a visiting Mum popping across from the sister's every other day, feel like I'm spinning in circles! Gotta get a card done for tomorrow, and Sunday and Monday, plus loads of drawing to do for my 'new venture' that I can't tell you about yet. . .

Phew! I'm taking five just to sit here and load up this post, which is my DT piece for the new theme at the Delicious Doodles Challenge Blog.

This time we are after 'Texture' on your creations.

Only just finished mine up this morning, so forgive the lighting. Just for a change it wasn't grey here in 'bonny' Scotland. Yup - might even get a skirt out of the cupboard later. . . oooo-eeerr!! LOL Methinks a barbee later too, with a few tinnies. . .

Sorry, I digress. Onto the card then, and today I have used my

Floral Watering Can image from the

Delicious Doodles Shop.

Coloured as usual with my watercolour pencils, scanned and printed for layering after some fussy cutting!

Got out the embossing folders too, with a swirly one on the purple bazzil, and a dotty one on the yellow pearlescent card. Behind all that is some netting that I folded up, can hardly see it, but it's there, honest!! Added some pearls at the top, and some trim at the bottom, plus a few punched out Butterflies. The yellow card has been punched with an MS 'all around the page' punch - loops. Edged the yellow panel and the butterflies with purple peony ink.

OK gotta dash and get Sons lunch. He has lunch at home from school now, so he is away from those pratts that tease and bully. Ta-ta for now then folks!

A quickie from me - so, so busy! New ventures on the horizon, but can't divulge anything yet :(

Anyhowz, got a new image for you. A lovely day reclining on a Chaise Longue. I made her look kind of vintage, with a hint of Goth and Steampunk. She started off as an oriental woman, but I couldn't get the look right, so went with this instead! LOL

Lace and Flutterbys

Hiya folks!

Hope you are all keeping well? If not, then I hope you get better very soon!!

Wish blogger would get better soon. Honestly, it's being a right pain in the rear end. I'm sure most of you are experiencing some probs. Mine are; having to sign in twice to get on the dashboard : not being able to comment at all (keep being directed to sign in page) : pics being rejected when uploading.

So I must apologise to everyone! I have been reading your blogs, and trying to leave comments when it works, but mostly it doesn't. Blooming frustrating or what!!!

Anyways, let's get onto my card today, which is my sample for the new Delicious Doodles Challenge. This week we are after your creations with 'Lovely Lace' as the theme.

I made a twisted easel card for this, (love doing these at the moment) and have used the Small Butterfly image from the Delicious Doodles Shop. This was coloured with the usual watercolour pencils, scanned to the compy and printed in two sizes, then fussy cut round.

I have cheated a bit with the lacey doily seen here. It isn't a real one!! I found a digi-version on Crafts-u-print and have used that placed on a pinky coloured digi-paper and then printed. I printed it a few times, cut one out for layering over the real lace trim, and used the third for the base part.

I was also a bit crafty with the base. As well as having the two smaller butterfly images (whose wings were curled over using my bone folder), I made a lace flower using three trims. One is a fancy trim, one is the same lace as the front panel, and in the centre is a smaller lace. I have also used inks to colour the lace, see below pic:

The die-cut corners (in green bazzil) are done using a Nellie Snellen corner die. Now I bought these a couple of weeks ago thinking 'oooh how fab, lovely corners', but they don't cut a whole shape! I found out they only cut a corner on the outer edge, with the inner edge still attached - a bit like a corner shaper punch. So I had to fussy cut the inner edges of them all to get the corners by themselves. Shant be buying any more of those dies!!

I finished up with some large sticky pearls and some leafy punch shapes.

Righty then folks. Off to do some more doodling, oh, and I suppose I ought to do some of the dreaded HW. . . ugh! Catch ya later!!

A quickie from me to announce a couple of

I went a bit floral this week, and have doodled a frame/border featuring some Lily of the Valley flowers, and a watering can with Daisies and Pansies. So here we go with the watermarked images -

Problems, problems. . .

I'm just popping on to apologise to you all, as it seems we are still having some blogger issues with commenting.

My plan was to visit my regulars and catch up on the Delicious Doodles Challenge entrants, but unfortunately I can't leave many comments!! For some reason I keep being redirected back to the sign in page, which is a pain in the bum, especially when I am already signed in!!

And its another pain not being able to properly sign out too - anyone else have that problem??

So, many apologies peeps - I will resume commenting when blogger enables me too, I'll keep trying though. . .

A Yummy Sundae

Hiya folks!

BOY am I late with this one today! This should have been up this morning, but I had not even started it let alone finished it - me BAD!!

. . . I do have an excuse though, but cannot reveal why just yet . . .

Anyway, here I am at last with this week's offering for the Delicious Doodles Challenge.

This time we are after your creations that are inspired by the Sun. What do you do when it's sunny and warm? I love to pig out on a lovely Ice-Cream Sundae, but we don't get much sun up here in NE Scotland, so I don't get the chance very often! LOL

Never mind, I can always look at this Ice-Cream Sundae and know that I won't put any more pounds on! LOL. I have used the Ice-Cream Sundae image from the Delicious Doodles Shop, coloured with the usual watercolour pencils, scanned, printed and layered with foam pads.

Papers are from an old set by Tinker & Co. Whatever happened to them, eh? Pearls from the stash, flower made using punches, ink and dimension paint.

Hopefully blogger will sort itself out very soon, so I can get round and comment on your creations. It's a pain in the bum keeping on having to sign in for commenting, and then not being able to sign out when I want to log off. OK, off to see if I can get this linked into some challenges now.

Seeking Inspiration

Hiya folks!

Well, what a day yesterday turned out to be. I didn't realise until well into the afternoon that it was Friday 13th. Seems this time it came and bit blogger in the butt!! Were you like me - completely lost and befuddled?? Not to mention rather peeed off???!! Yeah, I thought so. . . lol

So, today we are all picking up the pieces and playing catchup, and here I am with my DT piece for the new challenge at Delicious Doodles (a day late - sigh).

Our theme this time is 'Inspired by. . .'.

What is it that inspires you to create? Is it texture, colour, smell, nature etc, etc. . .

I get inspired by the lovely patterns of damask, and anything at all black, purple and Gothic. So how could I resist going down that route?? Well, I didn't resist. I splurged!! Out came the damask dp's I have on the compy, printed in black, roughed up with sandpaper and smudged with purple and black ink.I wanted it to look old and distressed. Not sure if that bit worked out too well. . .

Made this into an easel card. These offer some much more scope than a regular fold don't you think? I have followed a sketch for my layout, but I used the text bit for the bottom of the card and left it blank. I hate putting sentiments onto things, to be honest I'm crud at thinking up things like that, and verses for the insides, so I tend to leave my cards blank if I can.

I have used MS punches for the corners (loops) There is a Fleur-de-Lys shapeabilities strip across beneath the image, in purple bazzil, smudged with silver metallic rub-on. I have used the same card and corner pieces from the same set at the bottom on the blank panel.

Behind the image is a scalloped frame, which is a digi-element from a scrap kit, which I layered silver mirri onto, followed by the image. Behind all that is a yummy purple dp by Crafty Chaos Designs, and behind that, though you can hardly see it, is a black panel that I embossed with a damask folder and smeared with silver rub-on. I cut the corners with the same MS punch to match.

My image is Sexy Goth Girl from the Delicious Doodles Shop, left uncoloured here, and printed a few times to layer up using foam pads. Last job was to add the bling, which is in the shape of a few pearls in some of the corners, a huge black organza bow, and a dangly charm made from recycled bits of jewellery.

Now, because of bloggers cock-up yesterday, the challenge at Delicious Doodles is staying open until 6pm on Friday 20th May instead of the usual Thursday, so I hope you all can come and join us there (blogger permitting that is!)

Fantastically Mythical at Delicious Doodles

Hiya folks!

Ooo-er, that title was a bit of a gobfull wasn't it?? LOL

This week's new theme over at the Delicious Doodles Challenge is:

'Fantasy/Mythical'

So I pulled out the stoppers and went a bit mad. I have been seeing these 'triple easels' going about in blogland, and wanted to give it a stab. Didn't quite turn out right though. I wanted all three parts to fold on top of each other so nothing would show under the top layer, but I'm blowed if I could figure out how to work that bit right. Ah well, whatever!

I have used three of my Fairy images for this card, Endless Love, with its Dragon, Steampunk Fairy and Wistful Fairy. These have all been printed out as they come, with no added colouring.

Went a bit gothic with this project too - no surprise there, as that is my favourite style!! So there is plenty of black card here! And of course I just had to team it up with my favourite colour, purple - with some silver thrown in for good measure (and blingy highlights)

I haven't gone overboard with the embellies though, wanted a dramatic look without too much froo-froo getting in the way. I settled for a few little punched flowers with pearly centres, some fake brad heads, and some silver mirri corners cut with my new shapeabilites ornaments set (fleur-de-lys)

I also have another new set (thanks to Vicky) which I was desperate to get hold of. Finally found one on ebay for a reasonable price, and it turned up on Wednesday. I have used it here too, its the square frame behind the images (fleur-de-lys again!) in black card with silver rub-on for highlighting, and purple behind. These image panels are raised from the backing layers, and the images are also decoupaged with foam pads, then I stickled them for some bling, not that you can see the stickles in these photos.

I have used Martha Stewart corner punches for the base cards (loops) and the mirri/purple layers (iron railings) I also used some purple peony ink for the purple card edges too, and behind the images on the white backgrounds, just to help the images stand out some more.

Heck - almost lunchtime already! That'll teach me to go clothes shopping before posting this!

Gotta get this linked into a few other challenges before getting the son's lunch. He has lunch at home instead of at school, he finds it better as he doesn't get 'bullied' when he isn't there! And this school has an 'anti-bullying policy' - yeah, right - like anyone takes a bit of notice. Flipping place! That's what comes of not having any male teachers or any form of discipline anymore. Oooooooo - don't get me started on that one!!

Vintage Floral Card

Hiya folks!

Another fabulous day here in NE Scotland, we are being spoilt! You wait, we'll suffer for it later in the summer. I expect we are having our summer right now. . .! LOL.

Today I have a card that I whipped up using a new image that is being released tomorrow (Wednesday) over in the Delicious Doodles Shop. The image was inspired by my visit to the Highland Folk Museum weekend before last. Loads of old houses and vintage stuff. I took dozens of photos and plan on turning most of them into digi's at some stage.

Might have to wait a bit though, as my thumb joint is giving me a lot of pain right now, especially when I try to grasp things. It's my drawing hand too, which is a bummer!!

The image I made for tomorrow's release was in a window in an old fashioned Post Office house, and was a beautiful little stand with a large pot of Geraniums in.

Here is a watermarked version of 'Geranium Stand':

And this is the card I made using it, in a Vintage style. The image was printed out in a brown to look sepia toned.

Dp's are from Bearly Mine 'Lacey Vintage Dreams'. The brown cardstock is from the stash, and is a leathery texture which I roughed up with some sand-paper, and then smudged gold metallic rub-on over. I also layered with a bit of gold mirri. A close-up:

I have used some lace from my stash too, a couple of strips that are staggered, with brown ink dabbed on to help with the vintage look, and a thinner pale brown one on top.

I have added some antique brads, some brown organza ribbon tied in a bow, and an ear-ring looped through the bow. This was bought in a sale and I have used it here in the place of a charm. Just loved the way it looked with the vintage style of the card, even though it isn't actually vintage itself.

Thank you for all your best wishes yesterday, the tummy has picked up now, so all is well with the world! YEAY!! Such an annoying condition, you never know when it's going to hit you!

Onto some nicer stuff then, my card today is my DT piece for the new theme at

The Delicious Doodles Challenge.

This week we are being sponsored by none other than Kenny K - weyhey!!

And our theme is 'Teenagers'.

Lucky for me my eldest is thirteen in September (yeah, its way off yet, but at least I have my card done! LOL) so I made this card for her.

I used an image that I won several weeks back in another challenge, VickyLee Vicious. Just had to go with that one, reminded me of my late teens/early twenties listening to Heavy Metal (still do) and going to Rock Concerts dressed in all the garb of the time. And the images name reminded me of a certain Motley Crue member too!!

Anyroadup, my eldest is into the 'Goth' thing right now, she has 'Rock Guitar Legends' on the Wii and fancies herself as a Rock Star!! So this one is perfect for her.

I started off with the image, printed off large as I am crud at colouring small areas with my watercolour pencils. Then I scanned it back into the compy and printed out some layers which got fussy-cut. I used pearlescent purple for the base card, with a strip of black card, embossed, smudged with silver rub-on, and punched using an MS border punch.

The dp is my own, which I made from using Delicious Doodles images and layering in photoshop. Cut some shapes with a nestie and a shapeabilities die to go behind the image. Then I wrapped some purple oragnza round the black card panel, tied it in a bow, and added the bling.

Hiya folks!

Hope I find you all well today. I'm not feeling so fab today, blooming IBS is playing me up. Spent a few hours in the night awake and in the loo. Still visiting it this morning, but not feeling so sicky now thankfully. So, sorry about the lack of enthusiasm today!

Enough of my troubles.

Today I have my DT piece for The Crafty Purple Frog Challenge.

Our theme this time is 'Purple and Lace'. My fav colour!!

I have used a gorgeous sheet from Amy's store, named 'Elegantine in Dawn, decoupage'. My dp's are off the compy stash. Ribbon and lace from the stash also. The pearls are new, from the local craft shop. I made my flowers with punches and metallic coloured brads. Also added some stickles too. The circle frame thingy is an element from a paper set by Just So Scrappy2
